Log saw

A log saw is a stationary saw for cutting firewood. This woodworking machine can be electric or thermal and is equipped with a 400 to 700 mm blade. The saw is generally equipped with two wheels to facilitate its movement.

Electric or thermal, the log saw, an ideal machine for cutting firewood!

Electric log saws are particularly used by individuals. They are easy to handle and easily moved thanks to their lightness. They are available in different circular saw blade diameters giving the maximum cutting capacity. Thus, a log saw equipped with a 400 mm diameter blade will cut a maximum of 13 mm wood, it will then be necessary to turn the log to finish the cut. A 500 mm diameter blade will cut up to 17 cm in one pass and a 700 mm diameter blade, 25 cm. The Scheppach brand, a manufacturer of log saws for many years, offers German-made log saws with a 700 mm blade and a single-phase motor, whereas this large diameter could usually only be driven by a three-phase machine. A very interesting innovation for individuals who do not have three-phase power at home!

Thermal log saws, which are generally more robust, are appreciated by professionals. They are heavier and noisier than electric log saws, but the advantage lies in their mobility, in fact you can move your saw directly to the felling link without electricity.

The new 2018 standards have forced manufacturers to add additional safety features to garden machines such as log saws in particular. Our range of saws for cutting firewood is therefore equipped with a hinged cover on the logs to be cut, preventing the wood from rising dangerously and injuring the user. Previously, without this now mandatory safety, it was necessary to hold the wood with your hands. All our log saws comply with these standards! Finally, since the whole point of these garden machines lies in cutting firewood, it is better to have a quality blade to avoid accidents! Probois therefore offers its range of circular saw blades with high-quality European carbide teeth, generously sized teeth that will ensure longevity and easy cutting. All diameters are available on the site, from 400 mm to 700 mm, including the 600 mm diameter equipped with the specific fixing holes for Séca and Gaubert brand machines. Standard log saw blades, known as chrome vanadium, therefore without carbide-tipped teeth, are also on sale.
